While starting the process of civic elections in Uttar Pradesh, the UP government has fixed the reservation of wards. Principal Secretary Urban Development Amrit Abhijat on Thursday issued a provisional notification for reservation of wards of civic bodies in 49 districts including eight municipal corporations. On this, objections can be given to DM in seven days. After their disposal, the final notification of ward reservation will be issued. Preparations are on to issue provisional notification for reservation of wards of all 75 districts by Friday.

Reservation of most of the wards changed

Reservation of wards has been done on the basis of arrangement given in Uttar Pradesh Municipality Act and Municipal Corporation Act-1959. The reservation of every wards has been fixed in the provisional notification by the Urban Development Department. Wards have been reserved on the basis of rotation arrangement. Due to this, the reservation of most of the wards has changed. Reservation of wards for SC women is done first on the basis of rotation arrangement. It is followed by SC Male, OBC Female, OBC Male, Female and finally unreserved.

Spoiled game in new urban areas

109 new Nagar Panchayats have been created in the state and the limits of 131 have been expanded. That’s why counting of backward people has been done by conducting a rapid survey on the basis of 2011 census in the new and border expansion bodies. Due to this, there has been a big upsurge in ward reservation in most of the local bodies. Old veterans sitting waiting for the election may feel disappointed.

Reservation of wards in these districts

The eight municipal corporations are Lucknow, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Firozabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur and Varanasi. Apart from this, reservation of wards has been done in Amroha, Amethi, Unnao Etah Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kasganj, Kushinagar, Kaushambi, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Jalaun district bodies. Jaunpur, Deoria, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Firozabad, Badayun, Balrampur, Basti, Bahraich, Banda, Baghpat, Barabanki, Bhadohi, Maharajganj, Mahoba, Rae Bareli, Lakhimpur, Shravasti, Santakbirnagar, Sambhal, Siddharthnagar, Sultanpur, Sonbhadra, Hamirpur, Hathras and Reservation has been done for the wards of the local bodies of Hapur district.
