Heavy landslides are happening continuously in Joshimath for the last one year.  Here people have been forced to leave the place after locking their houses.  Due to landslides, thick cracks are appearing in the houses.  The situation has become so bad that people’s nights are being spent under the shadow of danger.

People say that the land is visible at night, whereas on opening the eyes in the morning there are huge cracks in the land and houses.  These days people of Manohar Bagh area of ​​Joshimath are in panic.

People say that Joshimath is falling apart. There have been cracks in the fields and barns. These cracks are several meters below. Due to cracks in the houses, the houses have become unfit for habitation. Have appealed to the administration, but there is no hope of getting relief from anywhere.

People say that the maximum danger is visible in Manohar Bagh ward. Same is the condition of Gandhinagar, Ravigram, Sunil and Singhdhar wards of Joshimath. In Manohar Bagh Ward, an incident like land explosion has happened. Here the land and houses have cracked. Because of this people have left their homes.

The situation of some people in the city is such that the landlords cannot leave their houses and go to other places. People say that they spent their entire savings in building houses, now it has become difficult to live in those houses.

Chandra Ballabh Pandey, a local resident of Manohar Bagh, says that he had built a house in Joshimath with his entire accumulated capital. Today the house is about to be completely demolished. When we sleep at night, big cracks are seen in the house in the morning. The roof of the house is also completely crooked. Can’t understand what to do then what to do.

The house is not fit to live in, the night is being spent in the shadow of fear

On the other hand, Uttara Pandey, a resident of Manohar Baki, says that there has been a crack in the whole house.  The house is no longer livable.  While saying this, tears welled up in Uttara Pandey’s eyes.  She said that the biggest problem facing the people is that the house was built with their entire accumulated capital, but today it cannot be said when and where the house will crack or collapse.  Nights are also being spent in the shadow of fear.

The same house of Santosh Bisht, a resident of Manohar Bagh has also completely cracked.  The two walls of their house have completely separated.  The tenants have left the house.  Only the landlord is forced to stay.  These people are living in the shadow of fear.

Land cracking incident happening since 10-15 days

This incident is happening since last 10 to 15 days.  The thin crack in any house is getting thick in 7 to 8 days.  Same is the condition of Vimla Devi’s house.  A completely new house of 4 rooms has been built, but cracks have also appeared in it.

Apart from houses, huge cracks have also appeared in Manohar Bagh’s land, fields and barns.  These cracks are up to about 5 meters.  At this time this area of ​​Joshimath is scaring everyone.  When which untoward will happen, nothing can be said.  On the other hand, Madan Kaparwan of Manohar Bagh says that his fields have completely cracked and the house has also cracked.

The administration is also worried about the cracks and landslides coming in Joshimath. Deputy District Magistrate Kumkum Joshi said that the municipality has instructed Joshimath to make a list, so that people can be selected and shifted to another place during a major accident.

The tunnel of NTPC hydropower project passing under Joshimath city, the drainage system of Joshimath city is believed to be the reason behind this, but in the midst of all this, Joshimath city has not been habitable for the people, which is increasing everyone’s concern.  At this time everyone in Joshimath’s Manohar Baad area is looking troubled.
