‘Government should not burden the Supreme Court with more cases’ – Attorney General said at the 73rd Constitution Day celebrations

The burden of pending cases on the Supreme Court is very high. On matters pending with the Supreme Court, Attorney General R.K. Venkataramani has expressed concern. During the 73rd Constitution Day celebrations, the Attorney General has appealed not to put too much burden on the government. He said, “The government should not put additional burden of more petitions on the Supreme Court.”
Raising some of the issues of concern in the legal system, the top law officer said, “It is important that the government stops overburdening the Supreme Court with endless statutory appeals being filed for smooth and voluminous flow of cases from the High Court.” must be closed.”
The burden should be less than the Supreme Court
During the 73rd Constitution Day celebrations, the Attorney General opposed the practice of filing petitions in the Supreme Court against every order of the High Court. He said, “Supreme Court should stop turning into a court of small matters. A large part of the appeals filed by the government in the Supreme Court against the orders of the High Court are pending before the constitution bench.” He told the need to establish a National Court of Appeal to remove this additional burden from the Supreme Court.
Advocated for making litigation policy
The Attorney General said, “Whether or not we put our views on the National Court of Appeal, that alone can stop the flow of work in the Supreme Court. We need to strengthen and decongest our High Courts.” If the government prepares a road map to adopt a litigation policy then the burden of the Supreme Court can be reduced. For a long time governments have been talking about a litigation policy. There is no reason why this policy cannot emerge did not get.”
