A decision on the formula for permanent rehabilitation of families affected by landslide in Joshimath may be taken in the cabinet meeting to be held on February 10. Proposals related to permanent rehabilitation will be placed in the cabinet meeting. Several options are emerging for the rehabilitation of the affected. For example, apart from government help to build a house on one’s own land, suggestions like giving land elsewhere in exchange for the land have come to the fore. There is also an option that the government itself should develop a colony and shift the people there. Meanwhile, the government has started building pre-fabricated houses for temporary rehabilitation. According to sources, in the cabinet meeting to be held on February 10, the government will bring some proposals regarding a permanent solution for rehabilitation. In this, a decision can be taken on the method of permanent rehabilitation.

Land being searched in Gauchar
According to the Disaster Management Department, the government is now looking for land for permanent resettlement in Gauchar after the situation on the ground in Pipalkoti is not clear. Apart from this, land options are also being looked at in some places.
