You didn’t find anything against Zubair, not even in the charge sheet, HC’s question to Delhi Police – Where is the person who created the storm?

In the case of Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair, the Delhi Police had to be humiliated in the High Court when the court asked the whereabouts of the person whose tweet created a storm. The court had a question to the Delhi Police that what action have you taken against Jagdish Singh.

Delhi High Court Justice Anoop Bhambhani’s question to the police was that you have done all kinds of investigation. You can’t find anything against the co-founder of Alt News. This is the reason why Mohammad Zubair’s name has not been mentioned anywhere in the charge sheet you filed. But this is not the end of the matter. We have to see that the matter reaches its conclusion in the right way. We also have to see where the person named Jagdish Singh is. How many hands and feet did the Delhi Police beat to reach him. If the police are not able to reach him then what is the reason for this?

Hearing will be held on March 13, instructions to all parties to be present
Justice Anoop Bhambhani fixed March 13 for hearing the matter. He said that all the people related to the case should be present in the court then. He said that he wants to see whether the matter is progressing properly towards its end or not.

Zubair is a resident of Bangalore. In 2017, Zubair along with Prateek Sinha launched Alt News as a fact check website. A case was registered against Zubair by Delhi Police on August 6, 2020 on the complaint of NCPCR citing one of his tweets. In his controversial tweet, Zubair had shared a blurred picture of a minor girl during an online feud.

Zubair had a question to that person that he was saying objectionable things in his tweet. That too when there is a picture of granddaughter in her profile. Zubair had said that the person should at least remove the picture of the granddaughter from his handle. After this, the Delhi Police registered a case against Zubair under the POCSO Act and several other sections of the IT Act. However, after the registration of the case, Justice Yogesh Khanna granted interim protection from arrest to Zubair.
