Khalistan supporter Amritpal out of the clutches, running away from the police cordon raises many questions

Khalistan supporter Amritpal Singh’s escape from the police cordon raises many questions. The police had made a very tight arrangement to catch her, in which she even managed to reach him. Some associates of Amritpal were caught, but he himself managed to escape. It is being told that when the police was about to reach him, he got out of his car and sat in another car and ran away from the police cordon.

However, this search operation of the Punjab Police should be praised that there was no violence in it and it was able to catch Amritpal’s associates easily. But he will have to answer how the main person who was wanted in this campaign escaped. Amritpal was openly instigating people for a separate Khalistan by forming an organization named ‘Waris Punjab De’.

His growing influence in Punjab can be gauged from the fact that last month when one of his supporters was arrested by the police, a large number of his supporters armed with weapons attacked the Ajnala police station and took out the arrested person.

Ever since the Ajnala incident, the Punjab Police was planning to arrest Amritpal, but it was not getting success. Eventually, the Union Home Ministry intervened and plans were made to arrest him. There was apprehension that after the arrest of Amritpal, people would come out on the streets and start rioting, which would be difficult to handle. Actually, Amritpal is taking forward his movement under the guise of Guru Granth Sahib, due to which he has been able to emotionally connect the people of the Sikh community with him.

But the large population of Punjab does not want to see separatist activities raising their head again in any form. Amritpal’s activities cannot be called a movement in any form, he is inciting separatism. Punjab has already suffered badly in this fire.

But people like Amritpal have been successful in fanning this spark in Punjab because they could not be clamped properly. Ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government came to power in Punjab, separatist forces have stepped up their activities openly. That’s why naturally fingers are being raised on the new government of Punjab.

The good thing is that more than seventy-five supporters of Amritpal have been arrested and some of the supporters considered dangerous have been sent to jail in Assam. The police are still looking for more people. This will put some curb on the pro-Khalistan activities through ‘Waris Punjab De’.

But the way Amritpal has managed to escape by throwing dust in the eyes of the police or with the help of an insider, questions will remain on the promptness of the Punjab Police and its intention to clamp down on the Khalistan supporters. The Aam Aadmi Party has been accused of sympathizing with the supporters of Khalistan. This allegation was made at the time of assembly elections only. In such a situation, if there is any mistake in the arrest of people like Amritpal, then questions will be raised on that too. He has to explain his stand in this matter.
