Under the new liquor policy, the state government has made many changes. Earlier, tender process was carried out for the allotment of liquor shops. This time, under the new liquor policy, priority has been given to allot liquor shops to the old shopkeepers only. Due to which the government’s income is more and the contractors are not burdened. Under this, tenders will not be held for new liquor contracts in the state this time.
The government is trying to hand over 10 to 15 percent increase to the contractors who have contracts for liquor shops. Joint Excise Commissioner, Kumaon Circle, KK Kandpal told that the contractors who have been allotted liquor shops, on the basis of priority, the old contractors can get their shops renovated at an additional surcharge of 10% on English liquor and 15% on country liquor. . He said that if the old contractors do not take the shops, then action will be taken to auction those shops. Any old contractor who wants to get his shops renovated can apply till March 31. Joint Excise Commissioner KK Kandpal told that 170 liquor shops are operated in Kumaon division.
Where a target of Rs 780 crore was kept for Kumaon division last year, which has been increased to Rs 860 crore this year. This year a target of Rs 308 crore revenue has been set for Nainital district. He told that to achieve the target set by the government, shops may be increased or decreased. He told that with the coming of the new policy, the revenue from liquor will increase for the government. He told that due to the low prices of liquor in Uttar Pradesh, people from the areas bordering Uttarakhand used to bring liquor from UP. But now the prices of liquor have been cut, so that the smuggling of liquor in the border areas can be stopped along with the revenue of the government.
