Writing on the issue of Joshimath on Facebook is Objectionable, Will a case be filed

“Government’s efforts are insufficient in Joshimath” writing on Facebook is objectionable, enough grounds to file a case! Today speaking from Haldwani Kotwali, I got a call from 9410518019 saying, “You have posted an objectionable post on Facebook, tell your address.” I said, “Which post? When? So got the answer, “You have posted something objectionable regarding Joshimath.” I said, “I have posted many posts regarding the Joshimath disaster and the struggle of the people of Joshimath. Which post are you talking about? What’s objectionable about them?” So it was said from there that, “You have posted a post in which it has been said that “the efforts of the government regarding Joshimath are insufficient”, because of this the matter has been transferred from Srinagar Garhwal police station to Haldwani police station here. Didn’t you get a call from there? I said it was a few days ago when I got a call.

A few days ago I got a call saying that Srinagar Garhwal is calling from Kotwali, you have a case, come to Kotwali. When I asked what was the matter, they were told that we have got an inquiry into the post you made on Facebook. I said, I keep posting posts on Facebook, which post are you talking about, so I was asked to come to Kotwali. I again asked which post is it? what is written? Tell me this, then it was said to come to the police station. When asked again and again, without telling anything about the post, they were told to come to the police station. So I said that I was in Srinagar Garhwal only till 2011, now I live in Haldwani.

I thought whatever happens, when they are not telling which post, what is written, then whatever happens will be seen. Nobody paid attention to the talk. Today, on receiving a call from Haldwani Kotwali, it became clear that the writing of the post “Government’s efforts in Joshimath are insufficient” has been found objectionable! I wrote several posts on Facebook in support of the movement of the struggling people of Joshimath under the leadership of Com Atul Sati under the banner of Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti, but we are not the only ones who write posts, In Nainital, under the banner of CPI-ML, AISA, Inquilabi Naujawan and sometimes in association with other people’s organizations, in solidarity with the struggling people of Joshimath, held demonstrations, meetings, and sent demand letters to the government.

Along with Com. Girija Pathak, I also participated in the delegation of CPI(ML) going to Joshimath on January 20-22, 2023 under the leadership of the then Uttarakhand State Secretary of CPI(ML) Com. Raja Bahuguna. We saw with our own eyes the disaster management failure of the government along with the severe devastation of the people there, talked to the disaster victims on many aspects and gave their assessment and what steps the government should take to provide immediate relief to the public. Taking his suggestions, he also made public through a press conference on behalf of the CPI-ML. Comrade Raja Bahuguna, Com. Girija Pathak, Com. Indresh Makhuri, Com. Atul Sati as well as I was involved in this press conference held on January 22, 2023.

The suggestions given by us to the Chief Minister of the Government of Uttarakhand and the representatives of the government deployed for disaster management are yet to be implemented; It is that even after the completion of 100 days of the Joshimath movement on 16th April 2023, the efforts of the government are not only insufficient but are reluctant and are a victim of directionlessness, in fact the BJP-led government of Uttarakhand has no clear plan regarding Joshimath. Nor is it the way of working of the state government so far, it seems that it is serious about Joshimath, this government is working with the mentality of cutting time, so that the people get tired and ‘settle themselves’, but the public The united struggle of the government is completely rejecting this effort of the government. That’s why even after more than 100 days, despite rain, cold and snowfall, denying ration, incomplete G.O., compensation and tingle of immediate relief, the struggling people of Joshimath are determined to uplift their rights and the following Continuously putting the demands in front of the government in a vigorous manner:

Declare entire Joshimath as disaster affected! Immediately make public the report of study survey conducted by eight institutions of the country! Stop the NTPC project, consider the project responsible for the destruction of Joshimath and impose fine! Stop Helang Marwari Bypass!

Declare a comprehensive displacement rehabilitation policy for Joshimath!

Displacement rehabilitation, proper compensation to all sections according to their occupation, proper compensation for damages, proper investigation and solution of the causes of subsidence and destruction. Prohibition, accountability and penalty on destructive projects. The continuous struggle of the people of Joshimath is showing how inadequate the efforts of the government are! Now it is possible that you may initiate a case against an activist under the Cyber Act on the ‘serious allegation’ of writing “The efforts of the government in the Joshimath case are insufficient”, but the question will remain whether the government will what are you doing for Why has your government failed so far in providing relief to the people?

That’s why I will say again and again government, “Your efforts for Joshimath are insufficient!” Not only your efforts are insufficient, but I also want to say that due to your anti-people policies, the landslide is happening in Joshimath, the main reason for this is the explosions done for the tunnel of Tapovan Vishnugad hydroelectric project being built by NTPC. You are not ready to accept responsibility and your irresponsible and apathetic anti-people attitude towards the public is increasing the intensity of this disaster!
