Bride’s brother was angry with love marriage
According to the information received, Chhotu Kumar was in love with Roopa Kumari, daughter of Dinesh Mandal of his own village. When Roopa’s family members came to know about this, they held a panchayat regarding this matter, where chief Manoranjan Kumar Mandal alias Lalu tried to settle the matter and also misbehaved with Chhotu’s family members. Actually the dispute is about caste. Rupa and Chhotu belong to different castes, while the head who pronounces the verdict in the panchayat also belongs to the same caste as Rupa.
Ran away after picking up the bride from the mandap
On June 3, Roopa and Chhotu got married, soon after knowing this, Roopa’s brothers forcibly picked up Roopa from her in-laws’ house and took her with them. The in-laws kept pleading a lot to spare my daughter-in-law but they did not listen to anyone and in film style ran away with the bride on the bike. Chhotu’s father told that I was called forcibly and some miscreants along with the headman beat me up and kept me hostage. Somehow I came out of there.
As soon as the information about the case came to the Bathnaha OP police, they recovered the bride from her house, showing activism in the incident. Farbisganj SDPO Khusru Siraj said that the father was assaulted by the accused. At present, Roopa’s statement is being recorded in the court.
