US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that the US military on Monday attacked three targets used by Iran-backed fighters in Iraq. The attacks came after President Joe Biden ordered retaliation against Iran-backed militia groups after three American soldiers were injured in a drone strike in northern Iraq.

“US military forces struck three targets in Iraq used by Kataeb Hezbollah and multiple groups,” Austin said in a statement. He said, “These precision strikes are a response to Iranian-sponsored militia attacks against US officials in Iraq and Syria. Groups such as Kataeb Hezbollah attacked Arbil Air Base.”

How did America prepare for the attack?

US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said that one of the American soldiers was seriously injured in the attack on Arbil Air Base on Monday. Responsibility for this attack was taken by Iran-backed militia Kataib Hezbollah.

On Monday, the US President was informed about this attack during the Christmas celebration. Biden asked to immediately respond to this attack and preparations were started.

To attack Kata’ib Hezbollah targets in Iraq, Lloyd Austin and the National Security Council team planned attacks on three targets.

America accused Iran of being behind the attack

America has blamed Iran for the attack on Arbil Air Base. America said that Iran has trained Hamas and has deployed many of its groups at different places in the Middle East.
