Biden warns Netanyahu about military operation in Rafah, expresses serious concern over civilian deaths
As the Israeli army prepares to launch operations in Rafah in the Gaza Strip, America has urged to protect Palestinian civilians. US President Joe Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday that Israel should not launch a military operation without a credible plan to ensure the safety of the 1 million refugees in Rafah, the White House said in a statement.
The White House said that the phone conversation between President Biden and Netanyahu lasted for about 45 minutes. During this, Badin expressed serious concern over the increasing deaths of Palestinian civilians in Israel’s military action in the Gaza Strip. A senior Biden administration official told media that Biden and Netanyahu’s talks primarily focused on ongoing efforts to secure the release of the remaining 132 hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
The official said good progress has been made toward the release of the hostages in recent weeks. He said that the agreement for the release of the hostages has been largely agreed upon. He said that during the discussions, President Biden stressed the need to build on this progress to ensure the release of all hostages as soon as possible.
Hamas tunnel under UN headquarters in Gaza…
Israeli security forces have claimed to have discovered a tunnel network hundreds of meters long and partially passing beneath UNRWA’s Gaza headquarters. Security forces alleged that Hamas was misusing the United Nations agency set up to help the Palestinians. Army engineers also showed that tunnel to journalists of foreign news organizations. The Israeli Army has made this claim at a time when the United Nations aid agency has been accused of its employees being involved in the war against Israel. After this report by Israel, about a dozen countries including America have stopped the aid given to UNRWA.
