BJP’s Mahendra Bhatt elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand, said- will take issues of border areas to Parliament

BJP state president Mahendra Bhatt from Uttarakhand has been elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha. Mahendra Bhatt will now be a Rajya Sabha MP. He has also obtained the election certificate after being elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha MP.

Let us tell you that after being elected unopposed as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttarakhand in the Assembly building Dehradun today, Mahendra Bhatt received the election certificate from the Returning Officer. After receiving the certificate, Mahendra Bhatt went to the Martyr Memorial at Kachari and paid his respects to the state agitators and martyrs. After this he was given a grand welcome at the party office.

What did Mahendra Bhatt say on becoming Rajya Sabha MP?

Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt said that the party has entrusted him with a very important responsibility. For which he expresses his gratitude to the party. He also said that he will fulfill the responsibility given to him by the party with full honesty. BJP has given an opportunity to workers from marginal areas to represent them in the Parliament of the country. In such a situation, he will try his best to take all the issues of the border areas to the Parliament of the country.

Let us tell you that on February 11, 2024, the BJP high command had announced the name of Mahendra Bhatt as the Rajya Sabha candidate. After which, on 15 February, Mahendra Bhatt filed nomination for Rajya Sabha. Today he has been elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha. Earlier, it was considered almost certain that he would be elected unopposed.

Know Mahendra Bhatt

Presently Mahendra Bhatt is the BJP state president. Who is originally a resident of Brahmanthala village of Pokhri block of Chamoli district. He was born in the year 1971. Mahendra Bhatt has also been a state agitator. He also stayed in Pauri jail for 5 days during the Uttarakhand state movement. Apart from this, he also took part in the Ram Mandir movement. Due to which he also went to Kanskhet jail of Pauri for 15 days.

Mahendra Bhatt contested his first election in 2002 from Nandprayag seat of Chamoli. From where he reached the assembly after winning. After this, he was the Minister of State in Uttarakhand from 2010 to 2012. After this, Mahendra Bhatt won the elections from Badrinath Assembly in the year 2017. Whereas, in 2022, Mahendra Bhatt had to face defeat. He was defeated by Rajendra Bhandari.
