Uttarakhand shivered with cold again…rain from mountains to plains, snowfall on peaks, Gangotri Highway closed

When the weather changed in Uttarakhand, cold has returned once again. The rain that started on Saturday continues even today. There is dense fog in Mussoorie due to intermittent rain since late night. At the same time, a huge drop in temperature has been recorded. Continuous rain continues in Tehri district since night. Rain continues in Gauchar, Karnaprayag, Adibadari, Narayanbagad, Tharali also.
Snow on high peaks
On the other hand, there is heavy snowfall in other high altitude areas including Kedarnath Dham. Whereas in the lower areas the cold has increased due to rain. Heavy snowfall is occurring in Auli, Vedni, Roopkund, Bagchi, Brahmatal of Tharali, Bhenkaltal and Dudhatoli of Gairsain. There is snowfall in nearby areas including Yamunotri Dham and it is raining with loud thunder throughout the night in Barkot tehsil area.
Gangotri Highway closed beyond Sukki Top
There has been continuous rain and snowfall in Uttarkashi district since night. Due to which Gangotri Highway is closed beyond Sukki Top. There has also been snowfall in the higher reaches of the Mori region. On the other hand, due to continuous rain in Srinagar since night, debris and stones are falling intermittently near Devprayag Dhaulidhar on Rishikesh Badrinath Highway. Due to which the police have stopped the traffic as a precaution.
Heavy thunder and rain expected today
There are chances of bad weather in eight districts of the state even today. The Meteorological Center has predicted rain with lightning and loud thunder in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Pauri, Haridwar districts along with Dehradun. Apart from these, yellow alert has been issued at some places in New Tehri, Almora, Champawat, Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar for loud thunder and lightning. There is also a possibility of light snowfall in areas at a height of more than 2500 meters in the state.
