After Iran’s threat, leave of soldiers in Israel canceled, IDF said – Fighter jets ready, are preparations for a big war in the Middle East?

The Middle East is going through great tension after the death of Iran’s top general in the attack on the Iranian Consulate in Syria. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Thursday banned the leave of all combat soldiers following Iran’s threat of retaliatory attack. “According to the situational assessment it has been decided that leave for all IDF combat units will be temporarily halted,” the Israeli military said in its announcement. According to the Times of Israel, the statement further said that the IDF is in combat and the issue of deployment of forces is being constantly reviewed as needed.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army said it had kept reservists on standby to boost air defense. Meanwhile, Reuters journalists and citizens living in Tel Aviv have reported that GPS services have been disrupted. According to experts, this is done in preparation to stop guided missiles. Earlier on Monday, the Iranian Consulate in Syria’s capital Damascus was destroyed in an airstrike. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) top general Reza Zahedi and his deputy, along with five other IRGC officers, were killed in the attack. Six Syrian civilians were also killed in the attack. The Zahedis were overseeing key responsibilities of the Syrian Revolutionary Guard, including ensuring the supply of weapons to Hezbollah fighters in Syria.

Tension increased after the death of Iranian general

Iran had blamed Israel for this attack and said that it would avenge this attack. Iran’s Foreign Minister had called it a barbaric act and said that we will respond accordingly. Iran’s proxy extremist organization Hezbollah had warned Israel of dire consequences. However, Israel neither claimed responsibility for the attack nor denied it. Analysts are expressing concern about the Middle East after Iran’s threat. It is feared that Iran may attack inside Israel in revenge.
