Federation Cup: Neeraj will compete today; Tur in shot put, Aldrin in long jump and Rossi in pole vault won gold

Asian Games gold medalist shot putter Tejinder Pal Singh Toor and long jumper Jeswin Aldrin won gold medals in the National Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championship but could not touch the qualifying mark for the Paris Olympics. Neeraj Chopra reached Bhubaneswar on Tuesday evening. He will compete on Wednesday. Apart from this, national record holder Rosy Meena Paulraj won the gold medal in women’s pole vault by jumping 4.05 meters on the third day, Tuesday.

Toor’s best is 21.77 metres, while the qualifying mark for Paris Olympics is 21.50 metres, but he won gold here with 20.38 metres. Madhya Pradesh’s Samardeep Singh (18.93) and UP’s Aryan Tyagi (18.07) won silver and bronze. Aldrin won gold with a jump of 7.99 metres. Mohammed Anees of Kerala won silver with 7.83 and Madhya Pradesh’s Aditya Kumar Singh won bronze with 7.81 metres. Rosie Meena won pole vault gold with 4.05 metres.

Rossi missed the national record of 4.21 meters which she herself had set last year. Tamil Nadu’s Baranika Elangoven won silver and Kerala’s Maria Jaison won bronze. Asian Games bronze medalist Nandini Agasara won gold in heptathlon.
