Fake Ghee was being sold in DMart, Food Safety Department raided and confiscated 490 liters of goods

A case of selling fake ghee has come to light in the country’s famous supermarket chain D Mart. In Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur, the Food and Safety Department team has recovered fake ghee packets from the warehouse of D Mart store. These packets of Saras and Pro Vedic brand ghee were kept in the store for sale, while many packets had already been sold.

According to the report of NDTV Rajasthan, on the orders of the Chief Minister, a ‘shuddha aahar-milawat par vaar’ campaign is being run across the state. In this sequence, action was taken on Thursday under the supervision of Food Safety Commissioner Iqbal Khan and under the leadership of Additional Commissioner Food Safety Pankaj Ojha.

490 liters of fake ghee seized

The team of the Food Safety Department reached D Mart located at Apex Circle Malviya Nagar on the complaint of a customer and started the investigation. Many employees and officers of the Food Safety Department were present in the team. The officials have seized 40 liters of Saras and 450 liters of Pro Vedic brand ghee from the warehouse of D Mart store.

What was found in the investigation?

During the investigation, many packings of Saras ghee with the same batch number and the same series were present. When the quality control manager and analyst of Saras Dairy were called and the investigation was done, it was found that all the ghee was fake and counterfeit. The ghee supplied to D Mart by the distributor was supplied by placing this fake packet between the letters. After this, the team reached Vishwakarma at the distributor’s place.

Many fake Saras ghee packings were recovered in one Saras carton at Khandelwal & Company Sikar Road near Vishwakarma Industrial Area Kukar Kheda. A representative of Saras Dairy was called on the spot, who confirmed that the ghee was fake. During this, the fake ghee was seized and samples were taken.

Ban on sale till further orders

The Haryana ghee found at D Mart, about which a complaint was received, the Pro Vedic Ghee, was found to be fake and substandard in the government lab. The area sales manager of D Mart has been asked to take the stock of Pro Vedic Ghee and Saras Ghee kept in all their stores and warehouses in Jaipur and not to sell it till further orders. 40 liters of fake Saras Ghee has also been seized and handed over to Saras Dairy.
