With the arrival of monsoon in Uttarakhand, heavy rains are falling. Heavy to very heavy rains have been going on in the state for the last one week. Chardham Yatra has been stopped for a day due to the red alert of heavy rains. Due to the possibility of heavy rains, on Sunday, the Disaster Management Department has issued an advisory to people to avoid any kind of travel.

Chardham pilgrims should stay where they are

Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has appealed to the Chardham pilgrims that the devotees should stay where they are. He has said that this decision has been taken in view of the safety of the lives and property of the pilgrims. Let us tell you that today is a very sensitive day for the state in terms of rain.

Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand today

According to Vikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places in Nainital, Bageshwar, Almora, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Pauri, Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. Apart from this, there is a possibility of lightning along with thunder at some places.
