Uttarakhand: Disaster management on alert mode after IMD’s warning, taking stock of the current situation from officials

The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in most of the districts of the state today. Regarding which, on Sunday, the Disaster Management reviewed the situation of all the districts from the control room. Along with this, information was taken from the disaster management officers of all the districts about the current situation and the rain in the districts.
Current situation was reviewed
During the meeting, Secretary Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Vinod Kumar Suman took information from the disaster management officers of all the districts through video conferencing about the current situation and the rain in the districts. Along with this, the District Disaster Management Officers of all the districts were instructed to remain on alert and keep an eye on the situation.
Instructions were given to open the closed routes as soon as possible
Secretary Disaster Management also took information about traffic operations in the State and National Highways. He gave instructions regarding National Highway, State Highway as well as rural roads that whatever roads are closed, they should be opened soon so that the general public does not face any kind of problem. He said that if the roads are closed then signage should be installed and information about it should be conveyed to the people.
Information taken about the water level of rivers
Secretary Disaster Management Vinod Kumar Suman also took information from the DMMO about the water level of the rivers and instructed to immediately send information to the State Emergency Operation Center regarding any emergency. Along with this, he asked to send people to safe places when the water level of the rivers rises and to make people aware about staying away from rivers and drains.
Instructions given to refute fake posts
Vinod Kumar Suman said that information has been received about misleading and fake posts being posted on social media regarding various disasters. Old videos and photos are being circulated in a wrong way by claiming them to be current. He told all the DMMOs that such misleading social media posts should be refuted immediately so that there is no atmosphere of fear and terror among the general public.
Relief amount should be given immediately to the disaster affected
Secretary Disaster Management instructed all the districts that there should not be any delay in distributing relief amount to the disaster affected. He has instructed to submit a report on how much relief amount has been distributed from June 15 till now and how many cases are pending.
Instructions given for internet facility in control room
Secretary Disaster Management said that relief amount should be sent to those people who have not been given relief amount yet, as soon as possible. Along with this, all the District Disaster Management Officers were instructed to make internet facility and connectivity smooth in the control rooms of the districts.
