Uttarakhand / Haridwar: 8-month-old child stolen from railway station, police searching for suspicious woman seen in CCTV footage
A case of child theft has come to light at the railway station in Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. The incident is said to have taken place at 4 am on Saturday, August 10. GRP has registered a case on the complaint of the victim and started investigating the matter.
Police said that Suresh, son of Rajkumar, a resident of Banaras in UP, was sleeping with his five children and wife on platform number one of Haridwar railway station at night. When Rajkumar woke up at 4.30 in the morning, he saw that one of his children, Veeru, who is eight months old, was missing.
Rajkumar immediately informed the police about the matter. When the police searched the footage of CCTV cameras installed at the railway station, a suspicious woman was seen. According to the police, the woman who got off the Howrah Express train has stolen the child.
GRP Haridwar in-charge Anuj Singh said that different police teams are checking the photographs of the passengers coming from Howrah Express after the incident between Haridwar and Rishikesh, but no clue of the woman has been found yet. Till now, only this much has been known that the woman had reached Haridwar by train from UP.
