Uttarakhand: The tiger that killed the woman in Bhimtal has been caged, people are still afraid of the tigress

The tiger that devoured the woman has been captured in the forest department’s cage. The forest department has sent the tiger to the rescue center in Ranibagh. It is being told that the forest department had set up a cage on the Naukuchiya Tal Khadki road near Bhimtal. The tiger got trapped in the cage at around 1 am on the night of 11 December. The forest department sent the tiger to the rescue center Ranibagh at night.

According to the information, the tiger had devoured a woman on November 25, after which there was an atmosphere of panic in the area. Since this incident, the forest department was trying to catch the tiger by setting up five cages in the area. The tiger got trapped in one of these cages late at night.

According to forest area officer Vijay Malkani, the captured tiger is a 5-year-old male. At the same time, the outgoing district panchayat member of the area, Anil, said that three tigers were seen in the area a year ago, out of which one was caught last year in 2023. However, people still fear that a tigress is roaming in the area.

That is why the people of the area have demanded from the forest department that like the tiger, the tigress should also be caged and caught. Forest area officer Vijay Malkani said that there is a possibility of this tiger being a man-eater. To confirm this, its samples are being sent to WII Dehradun. It is known that on November 25, Leela Devi, 52 years old, wife of Narottam, was killed by a tiger in this area.
