Indonesia fines Google Rs 103 crore for unfair business practices

Indonesia’s antitrust agency on Tuesday fined Google nearly $12 million (Rs 103 crore) for unfair business practices. The agency launched an investigation against Google in 2022. It is alleged that Google unfairly removed apps of Indonesian app developers from its Play Store. The panel said in the hearing that Google reduced the earnings of app developers as it reduced the number of users, and also said that Google violated Indonesian law on maintaining monopoly. The agency found that Google charged up to 30% through Google Pay billing. Google has also been fined $8.31 billion by the European Union over the past 10 years for irregularities related to Android mobile operating system and advertising service.
