It is written in the scriptures that on this day, when a person does charity, yajna and worship, he gets thousands of times more fruits.

When the Panchak Sankhyak constellation comes, then Basant Panchami is organized in this universe. Taking bath in Ganga on Basant Panchami is equivalent to performing Ashwamedha Yagna. He said that it is mentioned in the Puranas that the person who takes Vidyarambh Sanskar on this day, i.e. gives good education to his children or is selected for knowledge on that day, is considered very auspicious.
Pandit Shaktidhar Shastri said that during the time of Vikramaditya and Raja Bhoj, debate competitions were held on Basant Panchami for the growth of knowledge and science and to honour scholars and great scholars were honoured, whenever Panchak comes in Sankhyak Nakshatra, there is 5 times loss or 5 times gain, that is why on Basant Panchami, not only 5 times but many thousand times virtue is attained.
Devotees say that by taking bath in Ganga on the festival of Basant Panchami, the troubles of their life are removed. Along with this, they also get the blessings of Maa Saraswati and Lakshmi. He said that only by taking bath in Ganga, one can attain salvation.
