Today will be the consecration of Baba Bauknag temple, CM Dhami will inspect Silkyara tunnel

The Silkyara-Polgaon tunnel under construction on the Yamunotri Highway will finally be crossed today. Also, the Pran Pratishtha of Baba Bauknag temple will also be done today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself will reach Uttarkashi to witness this historic moment.

Baba Bauknag temple is located just outside the tunnel. In 2023, when 41 laborers were trapped in the Silkyara tunnel due to falling debris during the construction of the tunnel, the people engaged in relief and rescue work were also constantly praying to Baba Bauknag for help. After the laborers came out safely, the faith of this place became even deeper.

CM Dhami will honor the workers

Now, on the occasion of almost completion of the tunnel, a grand Pran-Pratishtha is being organized in the temple. Preparations have been completed by the district administration and NHIDCL for the program. At 12 noon, CM Dhami will take the blessings of Baba Baukhnath by participating in the Tunnel Breakthrough program as well as worshiping in the temple. He will also honor the workers.

Silkyaara Tunnel is a very important project from the point of view of Chardham Yatra. This tunnel is being built at a cost of about Rs 853 crore. Its length is 4.531 km and it will be two-lane and two-directional. The construction of the tunnel will reduce the distance between Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham by 26 km, which will also save time for the passengers.
