Uttarakhand: Sports Minister inspected Haldwani’s Golapar Stadium, gave necessary guidelines

State Sports Minister Rekha Arya on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction work at various sports facilities located at Haldwani’s Golapar Stadium. The minister told the officials that the state’s sports infrastructure stadium should be kept in a ready state to organize upcoming national and international level sports events.

Minister Rekha Arya first inspected the repair and reconstruction work of that part of the Golapar Stadium which was damaged due to natural disaster last year. The minister directed the officials to complete this work expeditiously. The minister also reviewed the progress of the Astro Turf Hockey Stadium being built in Golapar and directed to make it ready for operation as soon as possible.

Local children should be invited to the football ground and swimming pool

The minister also inspected the football ground, Taekwondo, multipurpose hall and swimming pool. The minister said that the state’s sports legacy policy is being prepared, but till then local school children should be invited to practice in these sports facilities. The minister told the officials that the benefits of sports facilities will be available only when players and children practice in them and hone their skills.

Instructions to expedite the proposed Sports University in Golapar

Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that the officials of the Sports Department should maintain and operate all the stadiums and other sports facilities in such a way that national championship and Asian championship level sports events can be held in them soon. The minister said that the preparations for the proposed Sports University in Golapar should be expedited so that the foundation of this university can be laid on National Sports Day on August 29.
