This year also, women self-help groups of Rudraprayag are getting work from Kedarnath Yatra. About 150 groups of the district are selling local products like prasad, barley, sesame, coin souvenirs, and running homestays and refreshment houses on the Yatra route. This is supporting the livelihood of hundreds of women.
Kedarnath Prasad can be purchased online
Kedarnath Dham Prasad can also be purchased online. Along with this, a replica of Kedarnath temple is prepared as a souvenir in the Growth Center of the Industry Department located at Bhatwadi Sain. Which devotees take with them as a souvenir from Kedarnath temple. This Growth Center, run by District Industry Center Rudraprayag, is also run by local women. Let us tell you that so far five thousand replicas have been prepared this year.
Women groups are getting business from Kedarnath Yatra
About 50 women self-help groups in Jakholi block are doing business related to the Yatra. In this, 30 groups are preparing prasad, while 10 groups are making incense sticks and 10 other groups are selling hill products. For this, the administration has also allotted shops to them, where Badri cow ghee is available at the rate of Rs 1200 per kg.
At the same time, about 38 women groups are associated with the travel business in Agastyamuni block. The groups are selling everything from souvenir making, prasad packaging and local products on the travel route. Some groups are also operating refreshment houses on the travel route. This has given employment to about 90 women.
On the other hand, 60 women groups are doing travel related business in Ukhimath block. 48 women are directly preparing prasad, while the rest are doing souvenir making, refreshment houses, tent operation for accommodating travelers, homestay and selling local products.
CM appeals to buy products from local women
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said Chardham Yatra is becoming the basis of the economy of women groups. For this, the government is providing all kinds of help to women groups, from providing stalls on the pilgrimage route. Women are also fulfilling the slogan of Vocal for Local by selling local products. All pilgrims are appealed to try to buy quality products of local groups.
