Uttarakhand / Dehradun: Police action for not verifying tenants, landlords fined Rs 16 lakh

Police fined 16.80 lakh rupees by challaning 168 house owners in Dehradun who did not get their tenants verified by keeping outsiders. 60 suspects were brought to the police station and verified after interrogation. 107 people were challaned under 81 police acts and a fine of Rs 26,750 was collected.

SSP Ajay Singh said that on Monday morning, police verified tenants, servants and outside labourers in many areas from the city to the countryside. Police verified more than 1700 tenants. During this, 168 house owners were challaned under the police act for Rs 10,000 each.

He said that this campaign started on the instructions of the Chief Minister will continue. SSP says that all house owners should get their tenants verified. This helps in identifying outsiders living in the city. Also, verification also helps in identifying suspicious people.

Police conducted verification campaign

To prevent Chardham Yatra and criminal incidents, Vikasnagar Kotwali Police and Sahaspur Police Station conducted verification campaign in their respective areas. 350 people were verified. During this, 38 house owners were challaned for not getting their tenants verified and a fine of Rs 3 lakh 28 thousand was collected. 27 people were also challaned under the Police Act.

Kotwali Police conducted a campaign in Herbertpur, Sonia Basti, Furkan Gali. During this, 200 people were verified and 10 house owners were challaned for not getting their tenants verified and a fine of Rs 1 lakh was collected.

15 challans were issued under the Police Act and Rs 3750 was collected. Sahaspur Police conducted a verification campaign in Rampur, Shankarpur, Dharmawala area. During this, 150 people were verified. A fine of Rs 28 thousand was collected from 28 house owners for not getting their tenants verified.
