Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forward India’s viewpoint strongly at the 17th BRICS Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He said that when India gets the presidency of BRICS, this organization will move forward with a new idea of ’strength and innovation for cooperation and stability’. PM Modi said, Global South will get priority under India’s BRICS presidency. He said, BRICS will mean – building flexibility and innovation for cooperation and stability. We will take this platform forward with the spirit of humanity first and a people-centric approach.
India will give a new identity to BRICS
Prime Minister Modi said that under India’s presidency, BRICS will get a new purpose, which will promote cooperation, strength and stability in the world. It will not be just a platform, but will become the center of hopes of all developing countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that while some countries measure climate change only in figures, India lives it in its culture. For India, climate justice is not an option but a moral duty, because the health of the earth and the health of humans are deeply interconnected. He emphasized that the confidence that developed countries show about the future should also be there in developing countries. Referring to the Covid pandemic, he said that this crisis has taught us that neither viruses come with visas nor solutions are chosen by looking at passports.
The voice of small countries will be strong
Modi stressed that now the time has come that small and developing countries should also be heard in institutions around the world. He said that India supports that everyone should get equal rights and participation. New technologies like artificial intelligence were also discussed in the meeting. Prime Minister Modi said that this technology should not be limited to rich countries only, but everyone should get its benefits.
Modi’s strong message on terrorism
The Prime Minister said that terrorism is the biggest threat to the entire humanity today. Referring to the attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir this year, he said that it was not just an attack on India but on the whole world. He said that strict action should be taken against those countries which give money, training or shelter to terrorists. There should be no double standards on this issue. India expresses its gratitude to BRICS for strongly condemning the Pahalgam attack.
Solidarity against terrorism is necessary
Prime Minister Modi appealed to all the countries that there should be zero tolerance against terrorism. He said that this fight is not just India’s, but the responsibility of the whole world.
