Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with great pomp across the country today. Ganesh Chaturthi is considered to be the day of worship of Vighnaharta Ganesh, who is the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. On this day, people install the idol of Ganesh ji and worship him for 10 days (till Anant Chaturdashi). Grand Ganesh idols have been installed in public pandals at various places across the country. Ganesh Chaturthi is also being celebrated with great pomp in Uttarakhand. Ganesh Mahotsav is being celebrated with great pomp at various places in Haldwani, Kedarnath and Haridwar.

Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated with great pomp in the world famous Kedarnath Dham. On Wednesday morning, Aarti was performed after special worship and decoration of the idol of Lord Ganesha located at the main gate of Kedarnath temple. Apart from the chief priest of Kedarnath Dham, the pilgrimage priests also performed the decoration and special worship of Lord Ganesha located at the main gate of Kedarnath temple. After the worship, Aarti of Ganpati Maharaj was performed. Later, a grand tableau of Lord Ganesha was also taken out in the Dham.

Ganesh Mahotsav Celebration in Haldwani: In Haldwani, Shri Ganesh Seva Samiti took out a procession on Ganesh Chaturthi. Where a large number of local devotees along with traders were present. On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, before the installation of the idol, the procession was started by performing aarti of Lord Ganesha in Shri Rameshwar Shiv Temple and breaking a coconut. The procession started from the temple and reached the premises of Shri Laxmi Shishu Mandir via the main routes, where the idol was installed with due rituals.

In the procession, flowers were showered at various places while the chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ resonated. During this, bands and tableaux added to the charm. The organizers said that Shri Ganesh Chaturthi Mahotsav is being celebrated with great pomp for 10 days from 27 August. Ganpati Vigraha Murti Visarjan Shobha Yatra will be taken out. Pandals have been decorated at various places in the city for the installation of Ganpati’s idol. For the next 10 days, people will install and worship the idol of Lord Ganesha in their homes.

Pandals have been decorated for Shri Ganesh Mahotsav at places like Ramlila Maidan, Patel Chowk, Himalaya Farm on Bareilly Road and Ancient Shiv Seva Samiti in the city, besides Mukhani, Rajpura, Railway Bazaar etc. There will be worship every day in the morning and sermons and cultural programs at 5 pm. Harimohan Arora, convener of Ancient Shiv Committee Ganesh Mahotsav, said that during the Ganesh Mahotsav, along with cultural and colorful programs, blood donation camps will also be organized. Where a large number of people will donate blood and contribute to saving the lives of others.

The auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has begun. This great festival will conclude on 6 September on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. It is said that Lord Ganesha was born at noon on the Chaturthi date of Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha. In such a situation, it is considered auspicious to install his idol in Abhijit Muhurta in the afternoon on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Offering laddus to Ganesh ji is considered auspicious. You can offer gram flour or boondi laddus. Modak is the favorite offering of Lord Ganesha. It is mentioned in the Puranas that in his childhood, Lord Ganesha would immediately eat the Modaks made by his mother Parvati.
