More than 40 proposals were approved in the meeting that lasted for about 11 and a half hours. These include important proposals like dog policy, dairy policy, street lighting system, 50 percent discount in user charges. The meeting, which started after the councilor talked about boycott, continued till late night.
Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal reached the house at 11:15 am. After this, Municipal Commissioner Namami Bansal started the meeting by observing two minutes of silence for the victims of Dharali-Tharali disaster. The councilors put forth their views on many issues including cleanliness, dairy, dogs, encroachment, street lighting system. Congressmen remain calm everywhere… Congress councilors started a ruckus in the meeting on this statement of BJP councilor Vishal. All the Congress councilors sat down on the ground one by one.
After this, a phase of persuasion started and only a few councilors calmed them down. During this time, proposals for expenditure of Rs 329.35 crore were passed against the estimated income of Rs 332 crore for the financial year 2025-26. The board agreed on more than 40 proposals, including four from the health section and 11 from the construction department. Also, the proposals related to anticipation were rejected. Citing the rules, the councilors said that the word anticipation is not in the act itself. In such a situation, the work done under anticipation is also unreasonable. However, this proposal was also passed in the last phase of the board meeting late at night.
