According to information, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. The accused has been identified as Akshay Thakur, a resident of Sheesham Jhadi, while the deceased is said to be Rajendra Kandari, a resident of Dogi Patti Matiyal. According to police, the two young men had a dispute over something near the liquor shop, which quickly escalated into a fight.

Killed with a sharp-edged weapon
In a fit of rage, Akshay Thakur stabbed Rajendra 10 to 15 times with a sharp-edged weapon, killing him on the spot. Upon receiving the information, police from the Muni Ki Reti police station arrived at the scene and apprehended the accused. Police have taken the deceased’s body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. As news of the incident spread in the morning, anger erupted throughout the area.

Angry people blocked the road
The deceased’s family and local residents gathered at Khara Source on the Badrinath Highway and blocked the road. They alleged that disputes and incidents occur regularly near the liquor shop, but the administration is taking no action. During this incident, the angry mob broke the lock of the liquor shop located at Khara Source and insisted on its closure.

Police investigating the matter
Municipal Council President Neelam Bijalwan also arrived at the scene and tried to calm the crowd. She ordered the removal of carts and stalls operating around the shop. Police are currently investigating the matter and the accused is being questioned.
