Uttarakhand / Haldwani: Intensive verification of caste and residence certificates intensified; 89 certificates issued in the last 5 years have been cancelled

The verification process for permanent residency and caste certificates issued in the Haldwani tehsil area over the past five years has now gained momentum. The investigation committee formed by the administration has so far canceled 89 certificates in its preliminary investigation, deeming them incomplete or suspicious. A large number of these are reported to be residency and caste certificates.

89 Certificates Issued in Haldwani in 5 Years Canceled
This action is being taken following instructions from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who, taking serious note of the demographic changes observed in the state, ordered a thorough investigation of certificates issued in all districts over the past five years. In compliance with CM Dhami’s instructions, a special investigation committee has also been formed in the Haldwani tehsil area.

Over 2,000 Certificates Investigated So Far
The committee has so far conducted a preliminary investigation of more than 2,000 certificates. During the investigation, 89 certificates were found to have incomplete necessary documents or their validity was deemed suspicious. All such certificates have been canceled with immediate effect. Officials say that this is only the initial stage of the process and the scope of the investigation will be further expanded.
