Political accusations and counter-accusations continue in Uttar Pradesh regarding the codeine cough syrup case. On Monday (December 22), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath clearly stated in the Legislative Assembly that no one would be spared. Targeting the opposition, he said, “When the government’s action reaches its final stage, many of you will go to offer condolences, and we will ensure that you are not even left in a position to do so. We will take such stringent action.”

Chief Minister Yogi said, “I assure the House that the Uttar Pradesh government will take the strictest possible action against whoever is found guilty in this case.” Presenting a complete account of the actions taken so far in the cough syrup case, CM Yogi informed the House that 77 arrests have been made so far, and further action will continue.

No death toll in the state
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed the House that there is no confirmed death in Uttar Pradesh due to codeine cough syrup. The syrup that allegedly caused deaths is from outside the state. Illegal diversion of the syrup was taking place in the state, and in separate raids, 77 accused have been arrested so far. He informed that the companies involved in this activity include Shaili Traders of Varanasi, Abort Health Care of Saharanpur, and laboratories in Ghaziabad and Delhi.

SP targeted
CM Yogi targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) regarding their alleged collusion with the accused. He said that the storage facility used by Shubham Jaiswal in Varanasi belongs to Manoj Yadav. The Chief Minister said that everyone knows who has connections with the mafia. Shubham Jaiswal of Shaili Traders is the State Secretary of the Samajwadi Party Yuva Jan Sabha and a business partner of Amit Yadav, the Samajwadi Party candidate from Cantt Varanasi. He is a business partner of Amit Yadav, who was an SP candidate. CM Yogi didn’t stop there, saying that Amit Yadav’s photo is with Akhilesh Yadav. He is your office bearer, and you cannot deny this.
