In Sambhal, Congress workers protested against the granting of bail to former MP Kuldeep Singh Sengar. During the protest, women activists chanted slogans demanding justice, including “Give us justice!”

Bharati Tyagi, the Congress women’s wing president for Western Uttar Pradesh, stated that Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was accused of raping a minor, had been granted bail despite the serious allegations against him. She also alleged that the police forcibly removed the victim and her mother, who were staging a sit-in protest, and manhandled them.

Tyagi said that protests were being held in all districts against this “injustice.” She questioned whether women’s honor had no value and alleged that those in power were playing with women’s lives and that this was being covered up because Sengar is a BJP leader.

Bharati Tyagi said that their protest was to secure justice for the young girls who are victims of such crimes. She added that the victim and her mother are hoping for support from Rahul Gandhi, and that Congress leaders have met with them to discuss their plight.

Congress leaders accused the state government of being indifferent to women’s safety. They said that the situation of women in Uttar Pradesh is dire and that the government, which champions the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” (Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter) slogan, is failing to deliver justice in cases involving the honor of daughters.

The protesters questioned the claims of “Ram Rajya” (ideal governance) in the state, given the lack of safety for girls. They demanded that the state government take immediate action to ensure justice for the victim and reconsider Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s bail.

A large number of women participated in the protest, pledging to spread awareness about social justice and women’s rights.
