Uttarakhand: A tribute ceremony was organized at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations on the birth anniversary of the late state activist Indramani Badoni

At a tribute ceremony held on Wednesday at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of the late Indramani Badoni, the great statehood activist known as the “Gandhi of Uttarakhand,” on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Considering that Badoni’s birth anniversary is also observed as Uttarakhand Folk Culture Day, programs based on folk culture were presented on this occasion.
Joint Director Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, while highlighting the life and invaluable contributions of the late Badoni to the statehood movement, said that Badoni gave a new direction to the Uttarakhand state formation movement. The state of Uttarakhand was formed due to the sacrifice, dedication, and martyrdom of the statehood activists. He said that it is the duty of all of us to take the state forward on the path of development in accordance with the dreams and vision of the activists.
Deputy Director Manoj Srivastava said that the late Indramani Badoni was not only a prominent statehood activist but also a strong advocate of Uttarakhand’s folk culture, traditions, and Pahari (hill) identity. He laid special emphasis on the preservation of the cultural heritage of the hills, folk songs and music, and the local language. He believed that identity is incomplete without culture. Other officers of the department also paid their respects to the late Badoni and appreciated his contribution to the state formation movement. Officers and employees of the department were present on this occasion.
