Under Operation Kalnemi in Uttarakhand, strict action is being taken against those who are tampering with the sanctity of Devbhoomi (the Land of Gods). So far, 511 people have been arrested under Operation Kalnemi, while more than 4,802 people have been verified. In addition, 19 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally have also been arrested.
Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami stated that Uttarakhand is not just a geographical state, but a center of faith, tradition, and belief for millions of people. Therefore, there will be no compromise on its dignity. Under this policy, the state government effectively implemented ‘Operation Kalnemi’ across the state from July 10th to crack down on hypocrisy, fraud, illegal activities, and suspicious elements operating under the guise of religion and faith.
The objective of this campaign is to maintain the sanctity of Devbhoomi, strengthen law and order, and protect the trust of the public. Under Operation Kalnemi, extensive verification and enforcement actions have been carried out in sensitive districts like Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar.
- In Haridwar district, 3,091 individuals were verified, out of which cases were registered against 715 people and 305 were arrested.
- In Dehradun district, 1,711 individuals were verified, resulting in 206 arrests. Nine cases were registered, and preventive action was taken against 380 people. Strict action was also taken against foreign nationals residing illegally.
- In Udham Singh Nagar district, effective action was taken against 220 suspicious individuals, and cases were registered in serious matters.
19 Bangladeshi nationals arrested: So far, more than 4,802 individuals have been verified in Uttarakhand, 724 cases have been registered, and 511 arrests have been made. In addition, 19 Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally have been arrested, of whom 10 have been deported. Legal proceedings are underway in the remaining cases. “This campaign is not against any particular class or community, but is aimed at protecting law and order and the sanctity of Devbhoomi (the land of gods). Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami has instructed officials to maintain continuous vigilance against such activities. Any negligence or laxity at any level will not be tolerated. The strictest action will be taken against those who tarnish the reputation of Devbhoomi.
