The case involving the indecent remarks made by Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya’s husband, Giridhar Lal Shahu, against women from Bihar in Almora has taken a new turn. The lack of action against Shahu, coupled with the police taking Uttarakhand Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela to Rishikesh instead of the Dehradun Police Lines, has sparked strong outrage within the Congress party.

Police take Jyoti Rautela to Rishikesh instead of Dehradun Police Lines
Uttarakhand Mahila Congress President Jyoti Rautela, along with other women activists, had gone to the Dalanwala police station to file a complaint against Giridhar Lal Shahu. The Congress alleges that despite a peaceful protest, the police arrested Jyoti Rautela and, contrary to regulations, took her to Rishikesh instead of the Dehradun Police Lines. This has fueled anger among Congress workers.

Tense atmosphere in Dalanwala police station area
As soon as the news of Jyoti Rautela being taken to Rishikesh spread, a large number of Congress workers reached the Dalanwala police station in her support and staged a strong protest. The Congress has stated that if a case is not registered against Giridhar Lal Shahu soon and if such treatment of Mahila Congress leaders continues, the agitation will be intensified. Currently, a tense atmosphere prevails in the Dalanwala police station area.
