The Governor attended the convocation ceremony of Uttarakhand Open University and distributed gold medals to 34 students

The 10th Convocation Ceremony of Uttarakhand Open University (UOU) was held with great pomp and ceremony. The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. During the ceremony, the Governor inaugurated the ‘Shaurya Wall’ (Wall of Valor) on the Uttarakhand Open University campus, dedicated to the courage and sacrifice of the brave soldiers who have served the nation.
The 10th Convocation Ceremony of Uttarakhand Open University was held, with Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) in attendance. This year, a large number of students were honored for their academic achievements. A total of 18,146 students were awarded degrees in various courses. 34 students who performed exceptionally well were awarded gold medals, while 6 students received their PhD degrees.
In his address, Governor Gurmit Singh said that Uttarakhand Open University has played a significant role in providing education to students in remote and hilly areas. He said that education should not be limited to just obtaining a degree, but its purpose should be to contribute to the development of society and the nation. The Governor appreciated the hard work, discipline, and dedication of all the students and wished them a bright future. After the convocation ceremony, the joy and enthusiasm were clearly visible on the faces of the graduating students.
The students who received gold medals were particularly beaming with pride and satisfaction. Prerna Bhatt, who excelled in Library and Information Science, was awarded three gold medals: the University Gold Medal, the Chancellor’s Gold Medal, and the Devaki Nandan Gold Medal. Sabira Khan was also awarded a gold medal for her outstanding performance in Psychology.
