At the Secretariat on Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with a delegation from the Anganwadi Workers/Helpers/Mini-Workers Organization of Uttarakhand. Led by the organization’s President, Rekha Negi, the visiting representatives presented their various demands and grievances to the Chief Minister in detail.
Anganwadi Workers’ Honorarium to Increase; CM Gives Assurance
Chief Minister Dhami assured the delegation that the state government is seriously considering a respectable increase in the honorarium paid to Anganwadi workers. The CM stated that the government has adopted a positive approach toward resolving the issues faced by these workers.
Organization Decides to Suspend Strike
During the meeting, the Secretary of the Department of Women Empowerment and Child Development informed the delegation that a request regarding an increase in the Anganwadi workers’ honorarium has also been submitted to the Government of India. Following the positive signals received from the Chief Minister, the organization’s representatives agreed to temporarily suspend their proposed strike. Consequently, the apprehension that Anganwadi services in the state might be disrupted has been averted.
Laksar MLA Had Raised the Issue During Special Session
It is worth noting that during the special session held on March 28, Mohammad Shahbaz—the BSP MLA from Laksar—had raised the issue concerning Anganwadi workers. In response, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had stated that the government would soon fulfill the demands of the Anganwadi workers. It is now anticipated that the Dhami government may soon deliver good news to the Anganwadi employees.
