Vinay Katiyar, a former MP who was active during the Ram Mandir movement, stated that it would be premature to draw a final conclusion regarding current developments, adding that whatever happens will be for the best.
Katiyar mentioned that he is in touch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is confident that everything will work out. He also noted that the names of Champat Rai and Gopal Rao have surfaced in this matter, and based on the investigation, Champat Rai might eventually have to go to jail.
Regarding Champat Rai, Katiyar remarked, “What can I say about him? When I arrived here three days later, I asked him, ‘Champat-ji, why have you come here? Stay at Karsevakpuram. If you need to do something, come to my house.’ But he didn’t grasp the point; what could I do? I told him it seems his luck isn’t good either.”
‘Massive embezzlement’ of funds – Vinay Katiyar
He said, “When the truth comes out, everyone will be left speechless.” Recalling the demolition of the Babri structure, Katiyar mentioned that the then Chief Minister Kalyan Singh had asked him if the then Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao was his friend and had asked him to speak to him. According to Katiyar, Narasimha Rao was constantly calling to stay updated on the situation, and after the structure collapsed, he had remarked, “Now, I will have to send [forces].”
Speaking on the issue of Ram Mandir donations and the alleged embezzlement, Vinay Katiyar stated that there has been a “massive embezzlement” of funds and an investigation into the matter is underway.
He clarified that the accused, Avinash, was not part of that specific group and stated he had no objection if action were taken against him. He added that an SIT does not complete an investigation in a single day; it could take two, three, or even more days.
