A wave of mourning has swept across the nation following the passing of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri. Several prominent leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their condolences on his demise.

Expressing his grief on social media, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote that the passing of Major General Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri is deeply saddening. He stated that Khanduri’s contributions—spanning from the armed forces to the realm of politics—will always be remembered. PM Modi noted that his dedication to the development of Uttarakhand was clearly evident in both his roles as Chief Minister and Union Minister. His efforts to improve road connectivity were truly inspiring.

BJP National President Nitin Navin also described Khanduri’s passing as an irreparable loss. He remarked that Khanduri dedicated his entire life to the ideals of national service and good governance.

Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat stated that Khanduri’s demise constitutes a major loss. He observed that, in addition to being a distinguished soldier, Khanduri was also an exceptional human being.

Uttarakhand Congress President Ganesh Godiyal also expressed his profound grief. He noted that Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri’s entire life was dedicated to the service of the nation and society.

Sharing an old anecdote involving him, Ganesh Godiyal recounted that when Khanduri served as the Union Minister for Road Transport, he took a proposal regarding a National Highway in the Pauri district seriously, rising above partisan politics. Godiyal remarked that Khanduri’s mindset consistently prioritized development and the public interest.

Congress leaders and party workers have also expressed their condolences on his passing and offered prayers for the peace of the departed soul.

The Chief Minister stated that, during his tenure in the Indian Army, Major General Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri set an unparalleled example of national service, discipline, and dedication. In his public life as well, he established a strong legacy defined by his commitment to Uttarakhand’s development, good governance, transparency, and an honest work ethic.

CM Dhami remarked that Khanduri gave a new direction to development by taking numerous significant decisions in the interest of the state. His simplicity, candor, and administrative efficiency will forever remain a source of inspiration.

The Chief Minister observed that the demise of Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri constitutes an irreparable loss—not only for Uttarakhand but for national politics as well.

He prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul at His divine feet, and to bestow upon the bereaved family and supporters the strength to bear this profound grief.
