Former Chief Minister Harish Rawat has reacted emotionally to allegations of accepting money in exchange for securing jobs and political positions. Swearing by his mother, he stated that he never took a single penny from anyone to secure a job for them, nor did he even accept so much as a cup of tea or water in return.

In a social media post, Harish Rawat expressed that attempts are being made to tarnish his reputation at this stage of his life. He noted that throughout his political career, he has recommended thousands of people for work and employment. According to him, any assistance provided was based on personal relationships and mutual cooperation.

Rawat mentioned that various allegations and smear campaigns had been launched against him during past elections as well, yet no concrete evidence ever surfaced. He stated that he does not wish to end his life under the shadow of this alleged stigma.

The former Chief Minister reiterated that he never accepted money in exchange for securing political positions either. Swearing by his mother, he declared that if he had ever taken money for anything, he would deserve his mother’s curse.

Concern expressed regarding Chandan Jeena

Harish Rawat also spoke about his former Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Chandan Singh Jeena. He noted that Chandan had worked closely with him—like a shadow—for a long time, and he is now worried about the confiscation of Chandan’s life savings.

Rawat expressed concern regarding the education of Chandan’s children and the livelihood of his family. He mentioned that he himself lacks the resources to easily cover his own household expenses, which has further heightened his anxiety about the plight of Chandan’s family.
