Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has reacted strongly to the alleged objectionable remarks made regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother and Rahul Gandhi’s laughter in response to them. He stated that a mother is not a subject for politics, and disrespecting a mother cannot be accepted in any civilized society.
The Chief Minister remarked that while political opposition has its place, crossing the boundaries of propriety in the name of dissent is inconsistent with democratic values and political decorum. Urging Rahul Gandhi to maintain dignity in political opposition, he asserted that such insensitivity and mockery are unacceptable.
In a statement released on social media, Dhami said that using undignified language regarding the Prime Minister’s late mother is inappropriate. He alleged that laughing at such remarks exposes one’s political values. He added that the nation’s women are witnessing these incidents, and such behavior in the name of political opposition cannot be equated with democracy, service, or proper conduct.
Remarks on Doval Termed Condemnable
Chief Minister Dhami also described the language used by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding National Security Advisor Ajit Doval as highly condemnable. He stated that it is inappropriate to use such language against an individual who has dedicated decades to the nation’s security.
Dhami said that the people of Uttarakhand know how to respect their sons and will not tolerate any insult to them. He added that ‘Devbhoomi’ (the Land of Gods) honors its sons and also knows how to give a democratic response to those who insult them.
