Biggest revelation of Rahul Dravid! Is captaincy being snatched from Rohit in this format?
After the defeat of T20 World Cup 2022, the Indian team is going through a phase of change. Especially India’s T20 team has completely changed. The entry of young players in the team is happening continuously, while veteran players are constantly being kept out. At the same time, news of Rohit Sharma’s captaincy being snatched from this format is also coming to the fore. But now the head coach of the team Rahul Dravid has given a big statement on this matter.
Rohit’s captaincy is going to be snatched from one format?
India head coach Rahul Dravid on Monday denied that his team is following a policy of different captains for different formats. The T20 careers of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul have been questioned ever since India’s semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup last year. All three have not played a T20 match since the World Cup semi-final against England in November last year. He was also out of the series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
Not getting chance in T20 format
After this, he is not even in the series against New Zealand this week. Hardik Pandya captained the T20 team in Rohit’s absence and is a strong contender to captain India in the T20 World Cup in 2024. Before the third ODI against New Zealand, Dravid said in response to a question, “I am not aware of this. (Different captain in different formats). You should ask the selectors that question but at the moment I don’t think so.”
Earlier this month, Dravid himself had said that the Indian T20 team was going through a transition phase and needed to exercise restraint. Rohit, however, has said that he has not decided on his future in T20 cricket.
Rohit is not leaving T20 format
Rohit said this month, “We have to play three T20s against New Zealand. Let’s see what happens after IPL. I have not decided on leaving the format.
