Four High Courts will get 20 permanent judges, Supreme Court collegium recommends names
The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, on Wednesday recommended the names of 20 additional judges to the central government to make them permanent judges in the High Courts of Allahabad, Bombay, Madras and Delhi. The maximum of 10 names have been recommended for the Allahabad High Court by the three-member collegium. Apart from this, the collegium has recommended five names for the Madras High Court, four for the Bombay High Court and one for the Delhi High Court. Apart from the Chief Justice, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice KM Joseph are also included in this collegium.
The recommendation was made by the Collegium of the High Court
On 23 November 2022, the collegium of the Allahabad High Court unanimously recommended the appointment of these additional ten nominated judges as permanent judges of the High Court. The CM and Governor of Uttar Pradesh had also agreed to the above recommendation. Thereafter, as a next step, consultations were held with the judges of the Supreme Court to ascertain the fitness and suitability of these designated additional judges. The collegium followed the same procedure and pointed out that a similar procedure was followed for the appointment of permanent judges in the Bombay, Madras and Delhi High Courts. These names are recommended for the Allahabad High Court
Justice Chandra Kumar Rai, Justice Krishna Pahal, Justice Sameer Jain, Justice Ashutosh Srivastava, Justice Subhash Vidyarthi, Justice Brij Raj Singh, Justice Sriprakash Singh, Justice Vikas Badhwar, Justice Om Prakash Tripathi and Justice Vikram D Chauhan.
Names recommended for Madras High Court
Justice Sundaram Srimath, Justice D Bharat Chakraborty, Justice R Vijayakumar, Justice Mohammad Shafiq and Justice J Satya Narayan Prasad.

Justice Rajesh Narayandas Ladda, Justice Sanjay Ganpatrao Mehare, Justice Govinda Anand Sanap and Justice Shivkumar Ganpatrao Dige. Delhi High Court
