Nuclear weapons increased worldwide between Russia-Ukraine war, China increased the most, PAK also increased
For some time, the tension of many countries with China has increased. There is continuous tension on India’s border with China. Meanwhile, a report has come out, in which the stockpiles of nuclear weapons of many countries including India, Pakistan and China have been told. A report released by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) states that China is rapidly developing nuclear weapons. However, India and Pakistan have also increased the number of nuclear weapons in the last one year.
86 new nuclear weapons
SIPRI director Dan Smith said that many countries’ nuclear arsenals grew last year. China led the way, while other nuclear powers continued to modernize as geopolitical tensions escalated. He said that the reduction in the number of nuclear weapons around the world is now on the verge of ending, there are now 86 more nuclear warheads in the military arsenals of major powers than a year ago.
This year the number decreased
According to SIPRI, the total number of nuclear weapons in the nine nuclear powers Britain, China, France, India, Israel, North Korea, Pakistan, Russia and the United States is set to decline by early 2023. The number of weapons at the beginning of last year was 12,710, which came down to 12,512 at the beginning of this year. Of these, some 9,576 weapons were in military stockpiles, which is 86 more than a year ago.
China increased its fleet
Currently the numbers exceed the 70,000 seen during the 1980s. On this, Smith said that at present all the weapons in the stockpile are usable. It has been said in the report that China has increased its weapons fleet the most. It had 350 weapons in its stockpile, which now numbered 410.
America has 90 percent of weapons
At the same time, India, Pakistan and North Korea have also increased their stockpiles of weapons. Russia’s number increased from 4,477 to 4,489, while the remaining nuclear powers retained their arsenal numbers. Russia and the United States still possess about 90 percent of all nuclear weapons.
India behind these countries
India’s nuclear arsenal is less than both China and Pakistan. India has less than half the nuclear weapons of China. According to the SIPRI report, out of 86 new weapons, India has about four, Pakistan has 5 and China has about 60, North Korea has 5 and Russia has 12 nuclear weapons.
Increase in fleets
The great thing, Smith said, was that the number of nuclear weapons had been coming down for more than 30 years. But now we are seeing it coming to an end. The fleet of weapons is constantly increasing.
