Uttarakhand: CS gave instructions to officials, said- prepare digital list of government land, employment opportunities should be given to local people in the direction of eco-tourism

Chief Secretary Dr. S.S. Sandhu organized a meeting on Monday in the secretariat regarding preparation of digital list of eco-tourism and government land. The Chief Secretary directed all the District Magistrates and DFOs to prepare proposals focusing on providing employment opportunities to the local people in the direction of eco-tourism.
The Chief Secretary instructed to prepare DPR along with marking the places for promotion of eco-tourism in all the districts. Said that the deadline for funding and completion of the scheme should be fixed in advance along with the DPR in the proposal. He said that in order to make eco-tourism successful, 80 to 90 percent of the revenue received from the eco-park can be used for its repair etc., its mandate has been issued.
The Chief Secretary said that there is immense potential for Astro Village, camping etc. across the state. A lot needs to be done in this direction as well. He said that there are immense possibilities of employment generation in eco-tourism both in Chardham Yatra route and non-Chardham Yatra route. For this it is necessary to involve people at the local level. If the local people need training for this, then get them trained. He said that there are various places across the state where camping sites can be developed. The training of guides is also being provided by the tourism department. The Chief Secretary said that in places where the footfall is less, the guides can also be given honorarium on a conditional term, so that the guides can be encouraged to work. After increasing the footfall, the guides will earn well.
The Chief Secretary said that during the visits of the District Magistrates and other senior officers to the areas, the local people often put their small demands and problems in front of the officers. He said that many problems or demands are so small that they can be easily fulfilled. He said that taking these small demands seriously, the officers need to focus on fulfilling the demands, so that the common man’s faith in the system remains.
The Chief Secretary said that the Spring and River Rejuvenation Board is about to come into existence in the state. Due to this, a lot of work will also be done in the direction of water conservation. In this, check dams and small ponds and lakes will also be constructed for water conservation. Which will prove to be very effective in the direction of eco-tourism. He instructed all the District Magistrates to prepare proposals keeping this in mind.
Along with this, the Chief Secretary instructed all the District Magistrates to prepare digital data soon to save government land from encroachment. He said that soon a portal will be prepared for this, in which digital data will be uploaded, which will be continuously monitored. He said that the purpose of preparing this list is to save all types of government land from encroachment. For this, the departments will give responsibility to the district level officers. In case of encroachment, action will also be taken while fixing the responsibility of the officials.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary R. Of. Sudhanshu, Chief Forest Conservator Anoop Malik, Secretary Arvind Singh Hyanki, Chief Forest Conservator Van Panchayat Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate and Secretary Chandresh Kumar along with all the district magistrates were present through video conferencing from the districts.
