Uttarakhand: Opposition to change the name of Lansdowne! Regional people are preparing to go to the High Court…!

Against the proposal to change the name of Lansdowne to Jaswant Garh, they are now planning to take refuge in the Regional People’s Court. The Hotel Association, including the public, has started mobilizing for this to file a PIL in the High Court soon. In the board meeting of the Cantonment Board, along with retaining the name of Lansdowne, a proposal to make Jaswant Garh as an alternative has been sent to the Defense Ministry. In the proposal, on behalf of Cantt, it was clarified to the Ministry of Defense that people are not in favor of changing the name of Lansdowne.
The final decision has to be taken by the central government along with the Ministry of Defense
However, the final decision on this proposal has to be taken by the Central Government along with the Defense Ministry. There is a preparation for a meeting of regional public representatives and citizens with the Hotel Association in Lansdowne, in which the proposal to change the name of Lansdowne will be strongly opposed.
Before passing the proposal to name Lansdowne as Jaswant Garh in the board meeting of the Cantonment Board, the Chief Minister of the state has also announced to name it after late General Vipin Rawat. Whereas, along with Balbhadra Nagar, the proposal to name Lansdowne after its mythological name Kalaudanda has also been sent to the state governments in the past.
Now people are preparing to fight in court
In such a situation, the battle to change the name of Lansdowne is now preparing to fight in the public court. Retired Colonel TC Sharma, president of the Hotel Association, said that the association would soon file a public interest litigation in the High Court against the renaming of Lansdowne.
