Uttarakhand: Kargil martyrs remembered on Bravery Day, Governor and CM paid tribute, relatives of martyrs became emotional

Programs are being organized across the country on the occasion of Shaurya Diwas. In this sequence, a tribute and felicitation ceremony was organized at the Martyr’s Memorial located in Gandhi Park, Dehradun. Sainik Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the programme. He honored the heroines of the soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil war. Apart from this, Governor General Gurmeet Singh also remembered the brave martyrs. The soldiers shared the experience of the work done in the Kargil war.

In the year 1999, on May 5, the Pakistan Army had killed 5 soldiers of the Indian Army. After which on May 10, 1999, the Indian Army started Operation Vijay. The Kargil war went on between India and Pakistan for about two months and on 26 July 1999, the Kargil war ended completely. In the Kargil war, 527 soldiers of the country were martyred and about 1300 soldiers were injured.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that at a height of about 18 to 20 thousand feet, the Indian Army chased away the enemies with its bravery, which has happened for the first time in the history of the world. Today’s youth can take inspiration from the bravery saga which was written by our soldiers on the peaks of Kargil with their own blood. He said that every fifth soldier of the country is from Uttarakhand. Patriotism is the best of all devotions.

The CM said that many big works have been done for the soldiers under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The example of which is that today the army responds to the bullet with a bullet. Earlier, the army had to take permission to respond to the bullet. In which a lot of time used to pass, but today one does not have to take permission from anyone to answer the bullet. He said that the grant amount received by the families of the soldiers in Uttarakhand has been increased. Along with this, work has been done to provide jobs to the dependents of the martyred soldiers. The military base being built in Guniyal village is being made so grand that people from all over the country come to see it.
