Uttarakhand: Need for effective implementation of SVEEP activities for voter awareness, people should be informed about importance of vote – Chief Electoral Officer (U.K.)

Chief Electoral Officer Dr V Shanmugam stressed the need for effective implementation of SVEEP activities for voter awareness. He said that in order to increase voter turnout, people should be informed about the importance of vote through various mediums. The Chief Electoral Officer was presiding over the State Level Core Committee of SVEEP at the Secretariat. The Chief Electoral Officer said that voter awareness programs should reach all sections of the youth, elderly and women. In particular, the focus is on reducing the voter gender gap. Our voter awareness programs should have different strategies for different target groups. We also have to make people aware, increase their participation and inform them about the special facilities being provided by the Election Commission of India.
The Chief Electoral Officer said that all concerned departments should work in coordination. Especially the departments directly related to the public can play an important role in this. Joint Chief Electoral Officer Pratap Shah, Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Mastudas, SVEEP Nodal Officer Aslam and representatives of various departments, Reserve Bank of India, Doordarshan, voluntary organizations were present in the meeting.
