The Yogi government, which is taking swift action under the zero tolerance policy against crime and criminals in Uttar Pradesh, has once again registered a big achievement. NCRB data for the year 2022 has proved that there is no place for criminals in the state. If we look at the NCRB data, more than 35 lakh cases were registered in the country. Whereas in UP only 4,01,787 cases were registered. The crime rate of the entire country is 258.1 percent and that of UP is 171.6 percent. Whereas in relation to the cases registered in the country, the ratio of cases registered in UP was 11.28 percent. Compared to other states and union territories of the country, UP is at 20th position in cases registered. Whereas Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in the entire country. Its ratio is 16.89 percent, which shows that compared to many small states, there has been a significant reduction in criminal incidents in UP. Apart from this, UP has defeated big states in providing punishment in crimes related to women.
Jharkhand’s crime rate is higher than UP
According to NCRB data, 28,522 murder cases were registered in the country, taking the crime rate (defined as the number of crimes relative to the number of crimes per one lakh population) to 2.1 percent. 3,491 murder cases have been registered in Uttar Pradesh, whose crime rate is 1.5 percent. In such a situation, UP is at 28th place in terms of murder. Whereas the crime rate of murder in Jharkhand is 4 percent more than that of Uttar Pradesh, the crime rate of Arunachal Pradesh is 3.6 percent and that of Chhattisgarh, Haryana is 3.4 percent. Similarly, 57,256 cases of attempt to murder were registered in the country, whose crime rate is 4.1 percent.
3,788 cases of attempt to murder were registered in Uttar Pradesh, which ranks 25th in the entire country with a crime rate of 1.6 percent. Similarly, 83,344 cases of outraging modesty were registered in the country, whose crime rate is 12.4 percent. 10,548 cases of outraging modesty were registered in UP, whose crime rate is 17th in the entire country with a crime rate of 9.4 percent. Whereas in Uttar Pradesh, the crime rate of profanity is 32 percent in Odisha, 26.6 percent in Kerala and 24.9 percent in Jammu and Kashmir. 615 cases of kidnapping for ransom were registered in the country while only 30 cases were registered in Uttar Pradesh. In such a situation, UP is at 30th position in terms of kidnapping for ransom cases.
Crime rate of POCSO Act in Andaman is 97.1 percent
31,516 cases of rape were registered in the country, whose crime rate is 4.7 percent. 3,690 cases of rape were registered in UP, whose crime rate is 24th in the country with 3.3 percent. Whereas in Uttarakhand, the crime rate of rape is 15.4 percent, in Chandigarh it is 13.9 percent and in Rajasthan it is 13.9 percent. Similarly, 57,082 cases of rebellion were registered in the country, whose crime rate is 4.1 percent. 4,745 cases of rebellion were registered in Uttar Pradesh, whose crime rate is 24th in the country with 2 percent. 1,07,222 cases of embezzlement have been registered in the country, whose crime rate is 7.8 percent. 6,906 cases of rape were registered in UP, whose crime rate is 3 percent. With this, UP ranks 31st in the country in terms of Nakbajani. At the same time, 28,356 cases of robbery were registered in the country, whose crime rate is 2.1 percent. 1,975 cases were registered in UP, whose crime rate is 27th in the country with 0.8 percent, whereas Delhi’s crime rate in robbery is higher than UP’s 8.6 percent, Orissa’s is 6.5 percent.

Compared to UP, the crime rate of robbery in Orissa is 0.9 percent, in Meghalaya it is 0.5 percent and in Chandigarh it is 0.4 percent. 63,414 cases have been registered under the POCSO Act in the country, whose crime rate is 14.3 percent. 8,136 cases have been registered under the POCSO Act in UP, whose crime rate is 25th in the country with 9.5 percent. At the same time, the crime rate of Andaman Nicobar is higher than UP, 97.1 percent, Lakshadweep is 55.3 percent and Sikkim is 50 percent.

While on one hand there has been a decline in serious criminal cases in Uttar Pradesh, on the other hand the conviction rate in crimes related to women in the state has been recorded at more than 180 percent of the national average. According to NCRB data, the country’s national average conviction rate for crimes related to women is 25.3 percent. According to the report of the year 2022, 70.8 percent punishment has been given in crimes related to women in Uttar Pradesh. Whereas in Mizoram, 68 percent, 60.9 percent in Bihar, 59.5 percent in Chhattisgarh and 56.4 percent in Manipur have been given punishment in crimes related to women.
